Every project is unique, and overall investment varies based on the size and scope of the home, construction requirements, furnishings, material selections, and level of customization.As a general planning benchmark, professionally designed and fully furnished spaces can represent a significant investment per room, while comprehensive renovations and whole-home projects often reach well into six figures. Slate Studios’ professional design fees are separate from the overall project investment and are determined based on the scope and complexity of the work.We discuss investment expectations early in our process to ensure the scope, vision, and anticipated investment are thoughtfully aligned before moving forward.

Slate Studios specializes in full-service design for whole-home furnishings, renovations, and new construction. We find the strongest results come from a holistic approach, though select smaller scopes may be considered based on overall alignment.

Furnishings-focused projects typically span 8–9 months from design through installation. Renovations and kitchen or bath remodels generally range from 12–14 months, depending on scope and complexity. For new construction projects, timelines are largely influenced by the builder’s schedule. Timelines vary based on permitting, construction conditions, trade coordination, and product lead times. We prioritize thoughtful execution over speed, ensuring each decision is made with intention. During the consultation phase, we will discuss what to expect for your project.

We lead each project from concept through installation, managing coordination, procurement, and communication with trades. While collaboration is essential during the design phase, our clients appreciate a structured, white-glove process that minimizes day-to-day involvement.

Absolutely. We regularly collaborate with architects, builders, contractors, and other client-selected professionals. If your project team is not yet established, we can also introduce trusted professionals from our network.Our role is to act as a key member of the project team, leading communication and serving as the client’s representative throughout the process. This requires a collaborative approach and a shared commitment to quality across the entire team.

We thoughtfully evaluate existing pieces and incorporate antiques, heirlooms, or furnishings when they support the overall design vision. Our priority is to create a cohesive and refined interior, ensuring every element contributes intentionally to the final result.

For quality control and logistical coordination, all furnishings are delivered to our receiving warehouse for inspection and storage prior to installation. This ensures items arrive in excellent condition and allows for a seamless, white-glove installation experience.

Yes. Katie Walker holds NCIDQ certification and is licensed by the Florida State Board of Architecture and Interior Design.  Slate Studios carries comprehensive insurance coverage, including professional and general liability, along with additional policies appropriate for full-service residential projects.

Slate Studios is based in Tampa Bay and works throughout Florida’s coastal communities, including Sarasota, Naples, and Palm Beach. We also take on select projects nationwide.  We travel to our clients and collaborate closely on-site as needed, ensuring a seamless and fully supported design experience.

The earlier, the better. We are ideally brought in during the architectural planning phase or early in the renovation process to ensure a cohesive and fully integrated design from the outset.That said, we are experienced in joining projects at various stages and can assess how best to move forward during your consultation.
